Day 8 - today's reading talked about poverty, of spirit and in possessions. Got me thinking about a T-shirt I had in the 72's which read 'Just Passing Through'.
The original version of the hymn used here was in Pilgrim's Progress by Bunyan. Some language was changed to make it fit our journey and not just that of Pilgrim. Other bits and pieces here were inspired by Hebrews 11 and 1 Peter.
He who valiant be against all disaster,
Let him in constancy follow the Master.
There's no discouragement shall make him once relent
His first avowed intent to be a pilgrim.
Who so beset him round with dismal stories
Do but themselves confound - his strength the more is.
No foes shall stay his migh; though he with giants fight.
He will make good his right to be a pilgrim.
