Like the Ari I once knew.
His words stab like a knife
Straight through the heart
Not because they’re false,
but because they’re oh so true.


You held me so tight,
Loved me for being me.
Yet I pushed you away;
told myself it was the best
Not just for you or me, for us.


Now I look back and wonder
Who was I trying to deceive?
I miss you but yet it’s easier to believe;
that leaving you was the right thing.
Because who could really love a wounded girl like me?


If only I could learn to trust,
To be so innocent & Naive
That I could believe…
that love will find a way
But for now I have to let go, let go of you and me.
